Towards the Pacific

Israeli Rescue organizations, humanitarian NGOs and volunteers unite to bring life-saving support to the Philippines after the tragedy of the Haiyan typhoon.

On Friday 8 November 2011 Friday the worst typhoon ever known in history devastated the Philippines.

The typhoon and the following tsunami completely destroyed dozens of villages causing the death of more than 10.000 people, left more than half a million men, women and children roofless. Thousands of missing people are still trapped under the debris and in the mud.

As in every tragic natural disaster, the Israeli volunteering organizations answered to their duty of rescuing the victims.

On Sunday November 10, less than 48 hours after the tragedy was known, a first rescue delegation left Israel for the the Philippines.  The delegation headed by Sauveteurs Sans Frontieres – Savers without Borders , includes a professional medical team of 7 volunteers that will carry out initial rescue from the debris and life saving medical aid. The following delegations will give life preserving medical aid psycho-social aid and support and community rehabilitation.

We invite you to participate in this huge endeavor to help thousands of people, showing the Israeli commitment to the victims.
