Fields of Activity
International Development: Brit Olam and its partners work towards long term community-based development programs, especially in the areas of children and youth, medical care and family health, gender equality and women's empowerment, formal and non-formal education and healing through arts. To make this a reality, Brit Olam employs a holistic approach that develops partnerships at home and abroad with organizations, members, volunteers and funding partners. Our programs are implemented in partnership with local development associations and NGOs.
Israeli International Relief Coalitions:
Brit Olam believes that communities in crisis deserve high quality relief and humanitarian assistance based on a people-to-people approach. Brit Olam has developed a broad coalition with other Israeli organizations and government departments working in areas of human disaster and emergency worldwide. Brit Olam has worked together as a coalition Partner in Major crisis and Disasters including the Tsunami of December 2004, The second Galilee war, The Darfur Crisis and the East Congo Civil War.
Volunteering – An international Israeli - Jewish Peace Corps:
Brit Olam views volunteerism and service learning as critical to the future of global society. Brit Olam creates a platform for committed individuals and groups to give their time and expertise, expanding and deepening volunteer activity and community involvement in the developing world, in local Jewish communities, and in Israel. Brit Olam's volunteers deliver real aid to genuine needy third parties, in accordance with international standards of best practice.
Strengthening Jewish Peoplehood : Brit Olam offers Israeli and world-wide Jewish young adults a unique opportunity to strengthen their bonds through learning and volunteering together. By organizing Israeli and Jewish youth to volunteer with disadvantaged communities, Brit Olam facilitates positive relationships between Israelis and people in the Jewish Diaspora. Bringing together Israeli and Jewish young adults enhances a renewed sense of the greater meaning of Jewish people-hood
International Training and Research:
Brit Olam believes that sustainable development should be based on advancing the human potential of local communities. Consequently Brit Olam advances training courses, seminars and educational programs. It develops a pro-active approach, based on a policy of evidence-based research for all its community development programs.
Developing Prototype Programs in Israel:
Developing innovative programs and community-based sustainable services for children and youth in Israel with duplicate models to be recreated throughout the world using carefully applied analysis and matching of needs. These programs are advanced through Brit Olam's sister organization and strategic partner in Israel - "Topaz- for the Well Being of Children and Youth" - a non-profit voluntary association, which develops and advances educational and social projects for children, youth and their families in Israel. |
